Memoirs. A Twisted Reality.

in #english7 years ago (edited)

Catalina came upon no less than 5 children asking for money today, they couldn't have been older than 8, and still, instead of attending primary, they were there, on the train she takes every day from home to work.. and back. Despite of, or maybe because their splendid imagination they all had different ways of asking for it, she recalled some "brothers" a boy and a girl who sang a very cheerfull song appealing to their audience sense of humor, other 3 in a very small group doing "magic tricks" and 2 more playing native music instruments.

She also remembers that the eldest of them all, couldn't had been more than 13.

While waiting on the platform there was a trasmition of a news program that they broadcasted on mornings usually at that time around 6 am, “we have to remember that the revolution this and revolution that” words that in that occasion were spitted out by one of the government spokesperson, she couldn’t believe that she was the only one perceiving 1984, big brother, tactics in the way that they act.

I know this because she just called me to tell me that she got robbed, some crooks took her phone, some cash that she had on her purse to pay food to the people who smuggles with price regulated goods, things like personal deodorant, tooth paste, rice, powder milk, diapers among many other stuff, things that you can only acquire on cash because they don’t have don’t have point of sale nor accept any kind of cards.
She was also going to give part of that cash to her mom, because Dayana her mother is doing everything she has to, to get Catalina’s sisters medicine for her attacks, mainly because the medicine is nowhere to be found, as much as you got the money to buy it the country doesn’t manufacture it, and private drugstores cant afford it because of the exchange rate, it’s not “profitable” some say.

She told me that she felt really bad in one of the little children presentation, so she tear apart her hotcake and gave a piece to the children that she saw, she didn’t have any money and even if she had, she thought that money wasn’t the solution.

I couldn’t help but feel bad for her, even when I know, what she has to go through I have, because I live here.

English is not my native language, i apologize in advance for the mispelling or grammar mistakes. it's just a way to share with others that don't know my language but maybe care. or start caring while reading.
