Lionfish beautiful but poisonous

This small ornamental fish may seem very beautiful at first sight, but do not kid yourself, and pay close attention because the last thing you want is to get with it.

Extremely poisonous, this "little fish" native to the Western Pacific Ocean, has become the largest predator of the Caribbean Sea, destroying everything in its path, thus giving a serious blow to the marine ecosystem. With a reproduction rate that surpasses that of rabbits and without any known enemy, it is currently the main ecological problem of the Caribbean basin.

The "Pterois volitans", belonging to the family "Scorpaenidae", although it is not native to the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea, finds them extraordinary to live and develop. So much so that it does not stop reproducing in an excessive way, which slowly damages coral reefs, seagrasses and mangroves. It is a voracious animal, with an insatiable appetite. And what does he eat? Well, other fish.

The lionfish has a high efficiency in the predation of fish and crustaceans. That is, you eat everything you get in your way. With what is going well up in the chain of predators, and as it knows no natural enemies, nobody in the sea eats them.

Este pequeño pez ornamental te puede parecer muy hermoso a primera vista, pero no te engañes, y presta mucha atención porque lo último que deseas es conseguirte con él.

Sumamente venenoso, este “pececito” originario del Océano Pacífico Occidental, se ha convertido en el mayor depredador del Mar Caribe, destruyendo todo a su paso, dando así una estocada grave al ecosistema marino. Con una tasa de reproducción que sobrepasa a la de los conejos y sin ningún enemigo conocido, es actualmente el principal problema ecológico de la cuenca del Caribe.

El “Pterois volitans”, perteneciente a la familia “Scorpaenidae”, aunque no es oriundo de las cálidas aguas del Mar Caribe, las encuentra extraordinarias para vivir y desarrollarse. Tanto así que no deja de reproducirse de forma desmesurada, con lo que lentamente va dañando a los arrecifes de coral, a los pastos marinos y a los manglares. Es un animalito voraz, con un insaciable apetito. ¿Y qué come? Pues otros peces.

El pez león tiene una alta eficacia en la depredación de peces y crustáceos. Es decir, se come todo lo que consigue a su paso. Con lo que se va colocando bien arriba en la cadena de depredadores, y como no conoce enemigos naturales, nadie en el mar se los come.
