A strange fruit, the Guama
Hello friends! Today I present to you the GUAMA, a fruit called also Inga, word of indigenous origin that means "soaked", since the pulp is of watery consistency.
It grows freely in our tropical regions, Venezuela, Colombia. The fruits are those that are contained in a pod of dark green color, and can reach 30 centimeters in length, each of the seeds is covered by a white pulp of very good texture, sweet taste and is usually eaten without need to process it.
The fruit is eaten directly by separating the pulp that surrounds the seed. This pulp is fleshy and pleasant sweet taste. Apart from its great flavor, the seeds and leaves are used for medicinal purposes: ANTIDIARREICO AND ANTIRREUMÁTICO.
Due to its low commercialization it is only found on roads, squares and avenues.
No, I never seen it before..
so good
This is something I’ve never seen in America. Ive cooked with all kinds of strange/ uncommon things but never have i come across one of these. If i ever find out I will surely try it. Interesting that the fruit also contains medicinal properties...I am a nurse and a cook so you’ve got bonus points on this post for both!!
