In 1894 Hildebrand and Wolfmüller present in Munich the first motorcycle that was manufactured in series and with clear commercial purposes. The Hildebrand and Wolfmüller remained in production until 1897.
The Russian brothers Eugéne and Michel Werner settled in Paris mounted an engine on a bicycle. The initial model with the engine on the front wheel began to be manufactured in 1894.
In 1902 the Scooter, also known as an auto armchair, was invented by the Frenchman Georges Gauthier. The scooter is a two-wheeled vehicle, bicycles, equipped with a protective dashboard. It was manufactured in 1914. It had a great popularity, especially among young people. It incorporates two wheels of little diameter and an open box that allows the driver to sit instead of astride.
In 1910 appeared the sidecar, a car with a side wheel that joins the side of the motorcycle. It consists of a frame (of a single wheel) and a body that protects the passenger. The motorcycle that drags it, becomes a three-wheeled vehicle.

The motorcycle from Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler was more a easier setup to test the engine. Of cause it a bike, but that's where opinions split. I myself see the Hildebrand and Wolfmüller as the first real bike
