Obviously, for a God to have rulership over one of the 7 days of the week, indicates superiority to those gods who have no such dominion. Therefore, the days of the week reveal to us the 7 major Gods of the English language AKA the English Pantheon. Interestingly, there is only one Roman god included, the God Saturn, although the rest of the Gods have Roman equivalents. Saturn is intriguing because the Romans equated him with the Judeo-Christian monotheistic God. This was primarily due to Saturn's depiction as the archetypal Reaper, a hooded bearded old man that hid himself and held dominion over time and agriculture, or more accurately, generation and degeneration. This is why Saturn was depicted as eating his children. He was both the giver of life (planting of seed), and the taker of life (harvester of crops). Many people do not understand religious metaphor because they are distanced from natural law and agriculture, the foundation of civilization. Ironically, the advancement of civilization relies on specialization of individuals away from agriculture (and natural law if not taught). The ultimate results of this remain to be fully seen.
