Future Power System in South Africa
If you had a blank piece of paper to design a future power system for South Africa... what would it look like? Would it be similar to the current system, with large central power stations generating electricity which is transmitted through major lines to us, the customers. Or would it be vastly different? Perhaps it would be an integrated grid with a network of smaller, low cost, generators with storage and management system supporting a huge mini grid of suppliers, users, storage managers and traders.
It's important to have a vision for the future power system, a vision which is inclusive, affordable, sustainable and an agent for positive change for all South Africans.
Let's start talking, let's start designing...
