Convert your outdoor bicycle into an indoor exercise machine/power generator (repost)

Imagine, if you will: You've suddenly lost power, and your electronics are low-energy. There's a number of ways to remedy this, whether it be a hand-crank unit for little things, or a gas generator for big things. Or solar. That works, assuming you've got UV to work with.
