EOSYS, the Stories We Write
Hello, we are one of the founding block producers from South Korea, EOSYS.
It was 3 am KST, June 15. It has been about two months since the EOS mainnet launched, with a 15% vote turnover. There has been a lot of events and incidents. Community members from all around the world gathered to innovate on a single blockchain, coming up with solutions to issues; RAM prices skyrocketed 90 times, while actual DApps started to run on-chain.
However, EOSYS has not lost its focus in such swirl of changes. As presented in “EOSYS, Our Dreams and Footsteps” by Charles Pyo in June, EOSYS believed in the philosophy of EOS and kept our promises. We deeply pondered on the ways of becoming ‘ConsenSys of the EOS blockchain’, and how to popularize blockchain. After endless discussions and contemplations, to move in the right direction, we reached a single conclusion.
“Think in Blockchain Way”
There are many EOS block producers and candidates now working on incubating or developing DApps. Nevertheless, there are still not much significant DApps available; why is that the case? We think the reason lies in the gap between blockchain’s growth phase and its expectations. Sometimes, when you look at the DApps that have been released or are coming soon, you may be surprised by the developers’ effort to create one complete service. However, in reality, current blockchain platforms still have its limitations, making it difficult for developers to realize their dreams. This is due to the fact that blockchain technology is still at its embryonic stage rather than due to its fundamental flaws and limitations.
So EOSYS decided to look at the DApp ecosystem from a different perspective. The answer is surprisingly simple if you recall when smartphones first came out. Mainstream applications at the time were applications that were simply functional and basic apps, not high-level, high-functioning apps. We believe that blockchain will also experience a similar growth period, which is absolutely necessary. Decentralized applications can offer a different user experience compared to centralized applications. Thus, rather than simply pursuing or imitating existing structures, the ‘Blockchain Way’ of thinking is essential in creating a novel ‘decentralized’ experiential value.
“Vitalizing to Utilizing”
Accordingly, we tried to recreate EOSYS’ vision in three steps as follows. The first step is to promote the stable launch of the mainnet and the value of EOS by “Vitalizing the EOS Ecosystem as a Founding Block Producer”. The second stage is the popularization phase of EOS DApps by “Utilizing the EOS Blockchain as DApp Launchpad”, and the third stage is the mass-adoption phase of the EOS blockchain, “Realizing the Vision of EOS”. Currently, EOS has entered a period of stabilization after its successful mainnet launch, and many people around the world are paying attention to the value of EOS. So, EOSYS is going to focus on ‘Utilizing’ beyond ‘Vitalizing’ so that meaningful service DApps will be actually available for general use. Through this, we can lead the expansion of the ecosystem so that “realizing” can take place in people’s everyday lives.
“Utilizing the EOS Blockchain as DApp Launchpad”
EOSYS basically runs various projects based on three: BP, DApp, and Education. The details are as follows.
1. BP
(1) WPS
The WPS project is a project that started to develop a Worker Proposal System as stated in the EOS.IO white paper. EOS community members are collaborating to develop a WPS process and software. EOSYS will constantly try to establish a system in which the EOS mainnet can be operated stably.
(2) eoshub.io
eoshub.io is a tool and service delivery platform that supports various functions of the EOS mainnet. Through intuitive UI and UX, we are developing to make users experience EOS functions in a fun and easy manner. In addition to basic functions such as token transfer, account search, and resource management, we are preparing other special functions and features. This will be released in September 2018.
(3) EOSYS Radar
Radar is a news platform that provides the community with the right information related to EOS. EOSYS has been providing good quality content through New Clippings once a week since before the main net launch. In the future, however, we plan to use the Radar to respond to rapidly changing ecosystems. Recently, we have even secured a competitive edge by partnering with Coinness.

2. DApp
(1) DApp STUDIO
DAPP STUDIO aims to be the ‘Major DAPP Market Maker’ under the philosophy of EOSYS. This is a new project in which we don’t simply support and nurture various DApps, but one where we reveal DApp services that allow users to understand the benefits of the blockchain. Furthermore, it aims to achieve the distribution of digital contents through the EOS blockchain.
Also, EOS Evangelist Group (EEG), which was managed to deliver the value and vision of EOS easily through articles, will be reorganized into DAPP STUDIO. In the future, we will focus on providing DApp related contents such as reviews.
(2) NOVA
NOVA is an EOS-based Multi-Platform (Android, iOS, Web) wallet developed by Wizard Works, who also developed Somnote, and supported by EOSYS. On August 2nd, we launched the world’s first EOS wallet for iOS with an intuitive UI that allows you to securely store and transfer EOS-based tokens securely. Wallets for Android and Web versions will be released soon, and we plan to update a number of convenience features for token holders.
(3) EOSDAQ
The EOS-based Decentralization Exchange (DEX), invested and incubated by EOSYS, will enable you to quickly and easily trade various tokens on the EOS mainnet. It is expected to be released in the second half of 2018.
(4) TOKENEXT
As the world’s first EOS-based, decentralized crowdfunding platform in which EOSYS invests and incubates, it will become a hub of upcoming EOS projects, as well as ICOs. It will be released in October 2018.
(5) EOS Knights
EOS Knights is one of the DAPP projects that EOSYS has noticed since its development, and has been providing technical advice, including support for nodes, to assure a reliable service on the EOS mainnet. The Web version was released on August 20, and iOS and Android versions are coming soon. EOSYS plans to support and invest in various DApps like EOS Knights in the future.
3. Education — we:D
EOSYS has made an important commitment to expand the base of EOS at the time of the BP election. This month, we launched “we: D” project. we: D is an abbreviation of ‘we are Developers’ which will provide various educational contents for developers to easily implement EOS-based DApps. On August 21st, we hosted the first we: D seminar for undergraduate developers successfully, and we will continue to educate more developers in the future.
4. POLARIS, The Next Big Move
EOS, the fastest and the most evolved blockchain in the industry, continues to evolve with the commitment of the community and block producers. POLARIS is a blockchain specialized in the DApp ecosystem, taking advantage of EOSIO by improving its efficiency. As EOSYS is knowledgeable about EOS, EOSYS has been helping with the project as an advisor for the succession and development of EOS’ footsteps.
With the launch of EOS mainnet, EOSYS has been a paid BP/SBP contributing a lot to the EOS ecosystem. We will continue to carry out key activities that will help the ecosystem prosper in the future. Recently, EOS Ignite, the first virtual conference for general EOS token holders, was held together with 100x, EOS Cannon, Meet.one, EOS Go and Tulip to provide quality information to more than 1,000 token holders real-time. In addition, we are building a node monitoring system to provide stability for DApp teams.
EOSYS’ BP rankings, which started at the 14th place when the EOS main net was launched, dropped to the 39th and now stands at the 28th. Although we are not in the position of a block producer, we would like to express our gratitude to those who believed in us and voted for us. We feel the responsibility that the 49,597,380 votes cast for EOSYS. That said, if there is anyone who has not voted yet, we ask your vote so that we can fully use our resources and capabilities to realize our ideals. Our efforts combined with your vote can lead to the popularization of the EOS blockchain.
EOSYS is growing at this moment. Any startup has its own big and small growth pains. But when this growth pain is over, we will be more thrilled than in fear, because we know that we have a vision and dream greater than those of anyone else.
