I resonate with your thoughts on getting to the root cause of your issues, dealing with it at the source. If one does not get to the root of the issues the same choices happen over and over. Yes, it's like a band-aid as you stated.
It's all about choices that you have made in the past. You used this quote which really hit home .... "You can never make the same mistake twice because the second time you make it, it's not a mistake, it's a choice."
Right on! That's how it works. The truth of how reality functions is so beautiful. Truth is awesome! The greatest joy in my life. It revived my life. It's a second life. This is the "afterlife", "eternal life", "immortal life" paradisaical Elysium heaven. "Jesus", the "light", comes as a sword to divide itself from falsity and give you that afterlife, immortality, symbolically of course. But that's what is being talked about. They are all symbolic metaphors and parables to analogize the supreme importance of Moral Truth/Law in life.

Yet I find that so many people just try to cover up the root cause with feelings of JOY and love. It never is complete until they erase the stigma of past drama and issues that caused their unrest in the first place. Make a new start. Heaven on Earth!
