Renew your Mind – Renew your plate
The title of this blog is a quote from the Book, “Think & Eat Yourself Smart by Caroline Leaf. Renew your mind – Renew your plate means that one of the critical aspects of adopting healthier eating habits starts with renewing our minds through research and understanding the food industry, benefits of foods, as well as dangers of certain foods.
According to Leaf, another critical aspect is understanding the dangers of “emotional eating”. “Emotional eating adds a flood of chemicals to our digestive system and creates confusion on how to process. Toxic stress is what happens when we react incorrectly to life’s stressful events. It keeps our flight or fight responses activated. This inhibits gastrointestinal secretion and reduces blood flow to the gut. Thereby decreasing metabolism and effecting our body’s ability to digest food.”
Keeping these two critical aspects in mind we shall continue the journey of raising our IQ on the benefits of foods and also the right way to consume!
