Making Progress on My Journey to Make Crypto Friends IRL

One of the most difficult parts of my initial socialization into crypto was the fact that so many people wanted to be anonymous. I have empathy for anons but I've always wanted to build a business around community-building, and communication is hard with anons, at least the ones I chatted with. I found few willing to even do live chats just with screen-sharing. I guess it just wasn't seen as a business opportunity by those I found willing to talk two years ago. Getting back into it earlier this year I was surprised to find so many people wanting to connect; even this entire social network of people sharing their personal stories and even eager to collaborate!

Now I have decided to quit "dabbling in crypto" and pursue it full-time, with the intent of quitting my dayJob() as soon as I figure out the workflow for working in crypto and paying necessary bills. Then I my goal is to find some land and move in to build a full-on crypto workshop maker collaboratory thunderdrome of some kind from which to host drone races!

I imagine my workshop build-out coming together something like this :)

Next Saturday will be the first meeting of <a href=http://meetu.ps/c/3fQ5g/8NYqd/a>Hillsboro Crypto Learning Workshop!</a> I have 4 people RSVPd for it so far, and am hoping to have a really fun and casual discussion about how we can band together to form communities built on crypto that are doing something useful in the real world. If I can get it all set up beforehand, I would love to livestream the meetup so that fellow Steemians and cryptonerds can join us at the local public library and participate with answering and asking questions; let me know if you guys are into that and on what preferred platforms! (I can stream to uStream, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and maybe Periscope, and I can stream up to two at a time) It would be awesome to turn this into like a weekly gathering on livestream :D

would love to run a small group like this weekly!

On 23JUN I will be flying down to San Fransisco to finally have my first in-person meeting with a fellow cryptopian, the fellow who initially discussed the Crown Platform with me a couple of months ago, and really got me interested in community-building again. (thanks, Zuck!) I am going to be meeting up with a graphic designer (glasspanther studios) to talk about some cool digital artwork for the crypto world, and maybe doing some cool community-drawn art projects online? (lots of fun stuff might come from this in the future!)

I love finding people to connect with; I love that crypto is providing new opportunities to bring people together. I always wanted to work at CERN because they are people from warring countries working side-by-side on a common goal of furthering knowledge. That is how I am approaching crypto community-building, and I hope you'll all join me in this thought of coming together and building things up instead of being like the non-crypto corrupt platforms that bottleneck and ruin stuff, right? Cool.
