The night of the snow storm changes everything for Catherine Parkes, a 101-year-old hairdresser from Exeter.
One moment, she is discussing sausages with her understanding brother, Chris Clifford; the next, watching with horror as brutal elves hurt each other.
She knows these elves came from Sleepford but she can't prove it - at least not without some giant stamps.
The hilarious, delightful woman knows that her cosy life is over. She acquires some giant stamps and is reborn as the hero who will save the world from brutal elves.
However, Catherine finds herself troubled by her cosy ideals and becomes overwhelmed with moral questions. Will her conscience allow her to do whatever is needed to stop the brutal elves?
