LOS DÍAS DE ELUL
Elul es el último mes del calendario judío. En el judaísmo representa un mes de reflexión, arrepentimiento y acercamiento al Creador, porque es la antesala a las fiestas de Rosh Hashaná (año nuevo y día de Juicio); y Yom Kipur (Día del Perdón)
Está escrito en Shir Hashirim: "Aní ledodí vedodí li" אני לדודי ודודי לי
En hebreo las iniciales de esta frase forman ELUL, nombre de este mes y el valor numérico de las letras finales es 40 (yud "י" vale 10), que simbolizan los 40 días que hay desde el inicio de Elul a Yom Kipur.
¿POR QUÉ ELUL ES UN MES DE ARREPENTIMIENTO?
Cuando Moshé rabenu bajó del monte por tercera vez, con la noticia del perdón de Dios al pueblo y con las nuevas tablas, precisamente fueron estos mencionados 40 días, y cuando trajo el mensaje de perdón, se convirtió en un momento muy especial. Hasta hoy en día, seguimos esforzándonos por buscar la cercanía de Dios en estos días y prepararnos reflexivamente en como mejorar para entrar al día del Juicio "Rosh Hashaná" hasta el Día del Perdón "Yom Kipur"
Cada judío debe demostrar una sincera disposición a integrarse a su Dios, a su Torá y a su pueblo.
