Elisha healed Naaman: Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel, 2 Kings 5:15
The Bible tells us how the prophet Elisha healed Naaman of leprosy in the second book of kings. And this marvelous miracle of Elisha has a very important teaching, just as there is a blessing for those who seek mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) with all their heart as happened to Naaman who was blessed by the Lord, there is also a curse for those who only seek to satisfy their own greed as happened to Gehazi servant of Elisha, who sought to make a dishonest profit from the miracle done by God.
Naaman's healing is a reminder of Psalm 1, the psalm of the two paths; God's gifts are given freely, in fact, Elisha did not accept money, Elisha with his actions gave witness to the glory of God. And this is how Naaman understood it, who with his words, like when King Nebuchadnezzar was cured of his madness in the book of Daniel (Daniel 4:34-37), blessed the Lord creator of all things; greed condemns us to suffering as happened to Gehazi, but the love for God frees us: "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" Deuteronomy 6:5.
Elisha with his miracles was a prefiguration of Jesus and the manifestation of his glorious Kingdom.
This is how the Bible tells us about the healing of Naaman and his dialogue with Elisha after the miracle:
"So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.
Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, ´Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.´
The prophet answered, ´As surely as the LORD lives, whom I serve, I will not accept a thing.´ And even though Naaman urged him, he refused" 2 Kings 5:14-16.
