A walk on a real gondola on the Big pond of the Catherine Park in Pushkin

It often happens that during the next trip you seem to be nothing special and do not commit, but later, looking at their own photos taken during a visit to various beautiful places, you suddenly realize that experienced at that time a real adventure, That's only realize it years later.

That year we visited a lot of places in St. Petersburg and its surroundings. We lived in a rented apartment and every day in the morning made another sortie in search of different beauties, and by the end of the two-week vacation head just refused to digest the information coming into it. But we kept invigorating, because our old friend Franco came to visit us from Italy, whom we took with us on this trip, and my niece Nastya, who lives in Peterhof, was added to our company.

In the city of Pushkin, where the Palace of Catherine, we were already closer to the end of the holiday. The road to the place was not easy, with transfers. Already in the afternoon we were terribly tired, because we stood a long queue to visit the Museum, spent in the Palace more than one long hour. And now, walking through the Park we reached a beautiful brick building of the local Admiralty.

Here Franco have a desire to eat and somewhere to sit down, which he eventually did, finding a nearby small café. But we didn't come here to hang around in one place, so began to observe the surroundings, Bolshoi of the pond.

And at this very moment we saw a fabulous boat. It was a real Venetian gondola, in which there was a real rower in a suit and hat. For a moment I even thought that we have overcome space and time, being in the center of Italy.

Very soon we found out that boating is not that expensive. Plunged there four of us, we sailed in a leisurely voyage along the surface of a Park pond.

Our "Venetian" was very talkative, he told in detail about the history of these places, in the course of stopping near each local attractions.

From the boat pier our way lay to the left on the course. We sailed past the overgrown Islands, in the dense foliage of which was barely prostebalsya Hall on the island. Immediately on the island we were met by the Chesme column, which was erected in honor of the victory of the Russian fleet over the Turks.

In the same side, but on the shore was seen a Turkish bath. The building is built in the Oriental style with a semicircular dome and a spire. A little further is the island of Wild and not far from it a beautiful Marble bridge with a colonnade.

The whole trip took about forty minutes. We had a good rest, I took a lot of pictures. The water in the pond is incredibly clean, here is shallow, but there is a fish, which, however, is strictly forbidden to catch. According to our Guide, the pond was cut artificially, at a time when the Park in front of the Catherine Palace was just being equipped.

In the old days there were arranged walks of kings and courtiers. Until now, The pavilion-grotto, decorating the shore of the pond, stands on the shore, like a small castle. In this small building there were dinners and various fun games.

That day we walked for a long time in the Park, having examined only half of it. I will definitely tell you about the other attractions of this beautiful place next time. Will need to go there again and explore that is zoned for where we last time never got.
