Recently, in addition to a master class in watercolor, I went to a master class on drawing markers. I took my daughter with me because I want her to learn how to draw with markers. The topic was fruit. We drew oranges. I haven't decided yet whether I want to draw with markers further because they are too expensive and also I have to buy many colors...

But I got an interesting experience, and my daughter after the master class began to draw a lot.

Our teacher was Ivan-artist and student of the Academy of arts. Ivan writes in oil, but also tries other modern materials-markers, liners, colored pencils. He showed his stunning sketchy from different cities of the world - Florence, Kostroma, Saint Petersburg, Gelendzhik.

First of all, Ivan told us about the paper for markers. It was smooth and thin paper. I was surprised the paper didn't get wet from the markers. We used Marker Layout Canson. This paper has front and back side! This is difficult to distinguish, but on the reverse side markers draw worse.

Then we tried different brand markers. I liked the alcohol markers with the soft brush.

Finally, we started the image of oranges. We were like real fruit, and the printed image. Everyone chose a perspective to their liking. I chose an orange with a slice cut out. I thought it was more interesting.

I drew the outline of an orange. I also drew highlights and shadows on it.

Then I took the markers and began to add color to the picture.

The technique was not the same as I saw on the step-by-step processes of other artists on Steemit. We do not draw contour lineraly, and did not fill the whole bright orange tone. We didn't paint over the glare at the end with a white gel pen. The highlight on the orange this white paper.

We started with a medium tone. Ivan said that we need to highlight the texture of the peel, so part of the orange need to draw points. Closer to the glare I used lighter colors, in places of shadow - darker.

At first, the picture looked strange.

We didn't paint the whole orange peel with dots. It's not pointillism. The dots were only from the middle tone closer to the glare. We painted over the bottom of the orange with dense strokes.

Falling shadow. Ivan wanted to teach us how to make a special shadow. A shadow that contains blue, purple pink, gray shades. He said that the shadow also has its own special color and should highlight the color orange.

As a result, I drew an orange with a cut slice. I'm quite a bit used a white gel pen to draw a small glare on pulp slices.
