Do not allow paints and solvents to penetrate the eyes, try to avoid getting these substances on the sensitive skin. If paint or thinner has got into your eyes, wash them with water for at least two minutes. It is advisable to use a fountain for washing eyes or something like that. In extreme cases, take a clean glass, pour warm water and pour this water directly onto the affected eye. It is necessary as soon as possible to "dilute" and wash your eyes, chemicals that have got into it - do not spare the water.
The solvent can cause irritation if it gets on the skin, so if this happens, wash the affected area several times with warm water and soap, and if you develop an allergic reaction, consult a doctor.
Solvents and oil paints, alas, flammable substances, so they must be stored in a special container. You can not keep it all in an enclosed space - the same applies to rags with which you wiped your hands, and the paint "cut off" anything flammable.
Remember that oil paints and other materials for painting (such as solvents for example) can be considered in your country as hazardous materials. Find out where and how to properly throw out such materials so as not to violate local laws and requirements.

Paints
Choose colors. You understand, before you draw oil painting, you need to find oil paints. Of course, the choice of colors today is more extensive, but do not buy cheap paint. Yes, you will save, but cheap paints tend to have a quality below average, which is why your art experience will be ... not the most pleasant. Spend more money, but buy one jar of quality paints, and not 2-3 cheap ones.

The simplest and basic set of oil paints should consist of the following colors: yellow cadmium, yellow ocher, red cadmium, crimson alizarin, blue ultramarine, titanium white, Martian black. By combining these colors, you can create any other color in the palette.

First, most likely, you will end up white, and, therefore, buy it with a margin.
Do not buy "student kits". The price may seem tempting, but the quality of such sets ... is so-so. In addition, do not buy a set of colors that are included in the brush - the brushes are likely to be cheap and substandard.

Brushes
Collect the rest. Beginning artists often succumb to the demon of the economy and do not buy what they need. In principle, it's not so bad, as it seems, there is one thing without which drawing oil will not be such a pleasant and simple experience!

Choose simple and high-quality brushes for oil painting. It is enough a pair of three brushes of each type, for the beginning it is no longer required. Say, buy round, flat and bristled brushes of different sizes.

Synthetic brushes - soft, natural - a little rough. Buy both others and others to use them in situations where you need to do the proper strokes.
Also buy a knife for the palette to mix colors, palette, canvas, as well as old rags and cans for brush cleaning.

Oil paint from the tube is very thick, and for the first layers of the picture it should be diluted. Therefore, you also need a solvent - something like a white spirit or flax oil (and its derivatives). The general rule: "thick for liquid", only so that your photo does not crack, and the layers of paint will not begin to separate from each other.
In addition, you can buy another drawing table, an apron (apron), a protective film and a special box for art tools.

Preparation of the workplace
Prepare your workplace. Since for drawing you need a lot of things and almost everything at once, you need a lot of space. The table should be installed where no one disturbs you. It is desirable, among other things, to work in a well-lit natural light. Another good idea is to lay out a sort of blanket on the floor, so as not to stain the floor with drops of paint.

The workplace should be well ventilated (the oil paint smells strongly), so at least open the door or window in the room where you will work.
The easel must be adjusted in height and position. Sitting in front of him without discomfort and labor.

Put on things that do not mind oiling. Oil paints are practically not removed from the tissues, so either wear clothes well, or wear things that are not pathetic.
If you have long hair, then collect them in the tail or hide under the handkerchief so that they do not get on the canvas and do not get into the paint. Also remove all rings and bracelets that you wear.

First draw a future picture with a pencil on the canvas. This will help before working with paints to create a composition, small details, smooth lines, etc. D. After making a sketch, you can easily make changes to it. First - a sketch with a pencil, and then - drawing with flowers (of course, if you do not plan to draw something abstractly random). Do not forget about the composition and negative space.

The composition is the position of the objects in the figure. The composition must be such that the appearance draws the entire drawing, and not some part of it.
The negative space, in turn, is the space around the object in the figure. If, for example, you draw a real object, then you can paint complex places without problems, if you look not at the object, but at the space around it. Think about what you fill with negative space in the picture, so that the object is still standing out and not lost on the background.

Consider intersecting and overlapping shapes, use them to add depth to your drawing. If the composition is such that nothing intersects anywhere, then it's time to change the composition. Depth will make your drawing more realistic.

Find the light source. To make a drawing realistic, you can not do without the image of the dark and lit areas in the picture. Look at the object and think about the angle at which the light falls on it, where the shadow, the penumbra and the backlight will be located.

If there is a light source, then there will be a shadow - a fact. However, if the light falls from above, the shadow can be difficult to notice. Try to move the light source or the object itself, so that the darker and lit areas are more pronounced.

Perhaps you will not have darkness, which is darker than twilight, and a radiance that is brighter than dawn. What is, most likely, you have a shadow and not a shadow, will differ from the strength of the tone of a halftone. If your light source does not give a clear border to the "light shadow", then do not worry. This is normal.

Choose colors. For beginners it is sometimes very difficult to compare the color of an object with the color of the paint (especially when the colors have to be mixed to get the desired color). All because the brain "sees" colors, perfectly idealized, you can start mixing the paint to paint a blue sky, and then realize that your paint is much brighter and blue than necessary.
Cover the drawing with a varnish. When the paint is completely dry, you need to protect it, and for this you will need a varnish. Lacquer you also protect the colors from burnout (to some extent). When the lacquer dries, you can congratulate yourself - your photo is ready, hang it somewhere in a conspicuous place!

Tip
The color "Black Ivory" will dry very long - try not to use it to cover the background.
Do not use linseed oil for light colors - they will quickly turn yellow.
If the paint does not want to wash away, you will be helped by a child or olive oil. Apply a small amount of oil on a rag or napkin and wipe off her hands. Do not wash your hands until you wipe off the paint, otherwise this method will be useless. Oil paint will easily slip off your hands, if you remove the wedge with a wedge - another oil. When you wipe the paint with your hands, wash them with soap and water.
