How I repaired the car DVR
A friend comes to me and says that his car DVR has stopped working. Could I see what can be done with this? I took up the job, because I like to deal with electronics and repair devices. In appearance, this is an ordinary registrar and quite cheap ...

An external inspection revealed the problem, a miniUSB connector was broken, which required replacement.

In order to disassemble the device, you need to unscrew the 4 screws that were spun behind the frame.

The LSD display was connected with a flat cable to the control board. Carefully remove it without damaging the cable.

Now the management board is fully visible. To get to the connector, further disassembly is necessary.

On the next step, I took out the management board. A microphone is visible near the miniUSB connector, and a speaker is soldered slightly higher.

Let's look at the connector closer. Nearby there are many parts that will make replacement difficult. The work is not simple, as it seems at first glance.

Immediately remove the connector is not possible, I decided to destroy it. I used a disk saw, such as Dremel.

I cut down the top cover, which opened access to the internal contacts.

To remove them, I used hot air gun ))

The next step was to remove the remnants of the connector. For this work I used my soldering station Lukey 702.

Great job is not it?
Before installing the new connector, I used a desoldering wire to remove residual solder.

For high-quality soldering, you need to use a neutral flux!

I use a soldering iron, and I seal the connector.

As you can see, I removed the microphone, it prevented me. After finishing the work, I installed it back. Next, I collect the device, tighten the screws, install the display. I connect the power cable to check the device. As you can see everything works well.

It was quite a difficult job, which seems simple at first sight.
Perhaps this information will be useful to you, or maybe just read to kill time, in any case, thanks for attention :)

Great job and that sounds very technical! You wrote it out in laymen terms though! Thanks :)
Thank you! I try to write well, but my English only with the dictionary =)
This certainly took you a lots of time and it looks like a lots of tampering.
