I guess I see it the opposite way. Republicans, on average, are only a little bit better. The questions above are interesting because you could shift the wording a little to get an opposite correct answer.

Are crime rates near all-time highs, no, but they have been on the upswing. Has inflation declined? Yes, but that's not the same as prices declining. The damage has already been done. Yes, the stock market is at or near all time highs. But inflation plays a role in that. And the last few months, boarder crossings may be down but I would suggest looking at the last four years. Also more "legal" crossings have been allowed via the parole process which bypasses normal legal requirements.

So while more Republicans may have been wrong on the specifics of these questions, I think most of the problems they allude to still exist (increased crime, high prices, illegal immigration, among others) and that is the issue.

The fact of the matter is that Kamala Harris could not or was not willing to articulate a coherent policy. She rarely gave interviews at all. Her only campaign strategy seemed to be to blame Trump for anything and everything (despite him not being President the last four years). It was annoying and got old real quick. Mostly, I look at California and see how government finances, taxes, regulations, prices, etc. are there and assume that's what she would like to see for the country. That's definitely not what I want.

You could also ask different questions and have Democrats get them wrong. For example, ask who deported the most people. I'm sure you would get a whole lot of Democrats that would say Trump. They would be wrong (It was Obama and as of June, Biden was on pace to match Trump).

The three most important things to me are reducing government spending (and size in general), reducing taxes, and protecting civil liberties. Neither party does these things and that is frustrating. I'm also for streamlining the immigration process as much as possible but also for preventing illegal entry. This would make deportations a non-issue.
