It's important to remember that most politicians don't give a shit about abortion or babies.

We technically won't know for sure until we're able to analyze a lot of data we haven't analyzed yet, but it looks an awful lot like there was a significant Dobbs effect this election—that overturning Roe did indeed galvanized pro-choice voters to turn out, even in an off year election.

It was honestly a phenomenal election for abortion rights, pretty much across the board. It is a moderately pro-choice country by any objective measure, and that, it turns out, is an important protection. It is difficult to overturn abortion rights in a pro-choice country.

Not that that will stop conservatives from trying to do it even without popular support. Trying to enact misogynistic policies without popular support is basically Conservatism 101 these days. Still, we can't relent: anti-choice forces the country over will stop at nothing until they can ensure that every woman in the country is afraid she will be investigated for a crime if she miscarries.
