A Massive EFFECT: Bridging the Gap Between Consumers and Access to Powerful Artificial Intelligence
Technology will shape the rest of human existence, but how that shape will take form is up to us, well, it could be up to us. We could have the opportunity and responsibility of facilitating the development of artificial intelligence if we can bridge the current AI gap.
The Current AI Gap
The power of artificial intelligence is currently in the hands of corporations who can afford the extraordinary entry costs to start in this space and maintain a large R&D budget. They are utilizing this technology not for our benefit, but to increase their current share of the market, reduce labor costs, and to separate themselves from competitors. With control of leading artificial intelligence resources, these corporations have little to no incentive to give the public and emerging companies and startups access to these valuable resources.
In other words, there is a massive gap between the companies developing and controlling artificial intelligence and the rest of us, and this causes problems. Not only are startups and developers not able to access this technology, corporations are in control of this trend instead of the masses, which could skew the information that is being used to train machines. Explained in the Effect.AI LitePaper, “The majority of AI development happens behind closed doors at large corporations. This puts AI at risk of becoming a ‘black box’ that benefits only a select few.”
Decentralization is the solution to bridge this gap, and the Effect Network (EFFECT.AI) is building that bridge.

Effect.AI is building “The Effect Network” on top of the NEO blockchain, operating completely on smart contracts. They describe the network as “a private and decentralized ecosystem for AI development and AI related services” that will be “open, easy to use and scalable.”

The project will be completed in three phases, which also provide insight into the direct value this project will provide and the potential value of the Effect token. Here is a description of the three phases in my own words:
Phase 1 (Effect Mechanical Turk): Users will earn tokens for completing tasks, giving AI developers a global network and access to a wide base of information to use in instructing and training machines.
Phase 2 (Effect Smart Market): Companies will have access to an AI marketplace, allowing them to purchase AI-related services.
Phase 3 (Effect Power): To power the artificial intelligence network, shared computation will be implemented.

I've heard about effect.ie and I would also love to hear what do you think about DBC (Deepbrain Chain) and Singularity. How those two look comparing to effect.ie in your opinion?
Im personally quite bullish on DBC (mostly because DBC is related to NEO) and I hope to hear what do you think about this coin.

Thank you. Looking over DBC now. Not too convinced by the information on their website, taking a look at the whitepaper.
From a marketer's background (I am not a blockchain expert by any means, consider me a complete idiot to be safe), the whitepaper takes a fluffy and defensive stance on AI instead of providing clear evidence of how this will work and the real future value of the project. It's written (along with the website) like someone was forced to write about this project and what they're trying to do without actually knowing much about the project. And as a writer, I have had to do that before. In these situations, it's often because there is something to hide or a large disconnect between the writer and the rest of the team.
Can you easily understand the project, specifics, etc.? It's not clicking for me.

I agree. DBC white paper isn't surely the best. But I kind of understand it. DBC is run by chinese developers and they are not very good with creating good and readable documents.
I think I can easily understand DBC only because I watched few interviews with their team and other youtube influencers talking about it. Seeing whitepaper isnt enough.

Do you consider building follower base and getting support from like-minded people very difficult here? I found that targeting audience on steemit is way easier than other social media that I got used to. And people here seem to be wiser than those on facebook :)
