Coming from a family of teachers i know that the implementation of this Child-friendly policy in school has a big impact.
The school plays a vital and essential role for students. It is the place where children developed their personal and social growth as they learned things in a course of time. A child-friendly school ensures every child or students live in an environment that is physically safe, emotionally secure and psychologically enabling.

The teacher as well plays in important role in molding the children to learn new things and to be able to apply this in the daily lives and with the teacher's job to create an effective and inclusive classroom. To hear it out, most teachers supported the use of interactive teaching methods. Over 90 percent of students said that students were encouraged to participate in class and work together during class which was also observed by the Department of Education.

But as we all know sometimes the case was not always like that. We heard in news students reported to their parents that some of them were mistreated by their teacher, like scolding and do something physically that harmed them like throwing eraser at them etc. In the Philippines, it is the Department of Education that took full responsibility in the education matters and stuffs of the country. So the Department of Education takes action on further protecting the students.

What does Child-Child Friendly school Means?
Approved and sign in 2006, DM 73, s. 2006 - Child-Friendly School; System (Cfss) At The Elementary And Secondary Levels law in the whole country is applied. According to UNICEF, "child-friendly school reflects a quality environment. A child-friendly school regards education as every child’s right and helps to monitor the rights and well-being of every child in the community. A child-friendly school acts in the interests of the ‘whole’ child, which includes his or her health, nutrition and overall well-being. A child-friendly school cares about what happens to children in their families and communities before they enter school and after they leave it."
This is very important law implemented in the country that ensure not only the protection of the Children but also promotes quality education and empowerment.

What is the Purpose of Child-Friendly Policy ?
This policy will ensure the safety of the children. Like most parents, they always wish nothing but the best for their children, right? The education systems progressively towards quality standards, addressing all the elements that influence the well being and rights of the child as a learner and the main beneficiary of teaching which will be a long process going through.

In addition, the Department of Education states that a child-friendly school policy ensures every child an environment that is physically safe, emotionally secure and psychologically enabling which will be monitored as well by the government official of the country.

What are the Concept of a child-friendly School?
This is also very important to know especially to all the parents. Upon reading the official manual of UNICEF about this Child-friendly policy at school these are the following concept i gather. I summarize it up by the way.
The UNICEF manual states the following:

  1. It is a child-seeking school
  2. Child-centered school

The Aspects are:

  • It is inclusive of children

Upon knowing this you now know what are the concepts of this policy. You know has the idea showing that a framework of rights-based, child-friendly schools can be a powerful tool for both helping to fulfill the rights of children and providing them an education of good quality and is indeed salient.

Upon the Implementation of this Policy these are the following commands on the "Do and Don't for the Teacher

It is quite scary to note that physical mistreatment or the punishments on students that made mistakes or error especially in behaviour really exists. But with this Child friendly policy, a child is more secure in his or her safety with the following commands.

A Scientific Research based on the observation concernedly resulted and has shown that children who have been exposed to violence show excessive irritability, emotional distress and also in extreme cases develop criminal violent tendencies. This is the alarming part but with this, this will surely help child's protection.

This was the video that was published by UNICEF summed up everything we need to know about this Child-Friendly policy. In addition to that the Philippines strongly support this International policy to promote and protect the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being of the child within the Filipino family and in nation-building as a citizens.

While this video that was Published by UNICEF Australia gives us a wider glimpse and enough knowledge to know what are the child's right.

We can fully evaluate and conclude that quality education, which is essential to real learning and human development, is influenced by factors both inside and outside the classroom, from the availability of proper supplies and skills to the nature of a child’s home environment.
