Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of Android Programming
  • Android Studio Application Installed
  • Most Importantly, the computer to be used

Main Goal:

  • To Create a New Project in Android Studio for the preparation of your soon to be made android application.

So let's start. Before, let me ask you. What is an android application? Or android programming?

Basically, android software development is

the process by which new applications are created for devices running the Android operating system. Officially, apps can be written using Java, C++ or Kotlin using the Android software development kit.

If you're having an android phone, you are basically also having android applications since android applications are designed to be operated for Android Operating Systems.

So, If you are planning to create your own android application, you may follow the basic steps in creating a new project in the android studio application. But first let me ask you again, what is android studio application?

Source
Android Studio is

the official integrated development environment for Google's Android operating system, built on JetBrains' IntelliJ IDEA software and designed specifically for Android development.

Now that you have already an idea of what is android programming and an android studio is, we'll now proceed to the steps directly.

  • Step 1. Search Android Studio in the search bar of your computer.
Once this appears, please click on the result to launch the application. Wait for a moment until it loads.

A new modal is loaded, please provide details for the following:

    • Application Name - This will be the name of your project.
    • Company Domain - This will be the name of your package.
    • Project Location - This will be the target location of your project.
  • Step 4. Select the target API.
This will determine what Android OS version is the minimum requirements which can use the system while running. As for mine, I selected Android 4.0.3 (IceCreamSandwich) to make sure older versions of Android OS can still use the app. :)

  • Step 5. Select your default activity would like.
If your application would require a login function, you can select the activity for Login. This will automatically generate default values, functions, class, layouts and etc. for the selected activity. As for mine, I only selected the basic activity since I will be the one creating contents of the layouts.

  • Step 6. Fill out the necessary fields needed.
    5.png
Please provide details of the following:

    • Activity Name - This will be the name of your activity or class.
    • Layout Name - This will be the name of your layout or graphical user interface.
    • Title - This will be title of your activity.
  • Step 7. Wait until the defaults are created.
After you click on Finish button, the application will generate all the defaults. This will serve as your project later onwards.
    6.png
After all the defaults are loaded, then you are now set and good to go. You can now start creating your first project in Android Studio. Don't worry, most of the functions are drag and drop. It's so easy to learn but be prepare for your internet for searching.
