I commend you sir for taking the time to do this with @youngboss , I have been guilty in the past for blasting spammers and plagiarists but I too also decided to try and help a few, I even had to use Google translate, with a couple of them because my Spanish just wasn't that good.
I admit I didn't go as far as you with helping your guy, but I was able to get across the importance of making original content and how to make good meaningful comments and I still have a couple that come by and visit my blog pretty regularly. They only leave one or two sentence comments but I am pretty hard for even sane English speakers to understand, so I know they might not get the sarcasm and such, but they are trying and their REP is slowly growing. So in the end it helps and just plain makes you feel good to help, at least it does me.
