February 24: Education
Epictetus, Discourses, 2.1.21-23a: "What is the fruit of these teachings? Only the most beautiful and proper harvest of the truly educated-tranquility, fearlessness, and freedom. We should not trust the masses who say only the free can be educated, but rather the lovers of wisdom who say that only the educated are free."
Self knowledge and knowledge are freedom. It is easy to get distracted from learning philosophy, but really it is learning how to live, and that is why you are even on this blog. You want to learn how to live better, through various philosophies, but in particular the stoic way.
I think one of the most important things in life is to figure out how YOU learn the best and live better, not how someone else has done it, not how someone else learns topics faster. Some people learn better through visual aids, some people learn better through reading on their own. But YOU must figure out how you learn best, not just when you are young, or in college, or learning some new degree, but even at old age when you learn how to use a new technology. We all will be seeing new technologies in our life and we should learn how to use it to live better.
Stoicism will give you the way.
