Wondering if there is any difference? Just a minute of your time would give you the answer. Far back to 2016,I have always thought it's the same meaning. However, these words are different from each other.

Jail is a protected facility built to detent inmates who are awaiting their trial or serving a very short term. Jails are predominantly run by local law enforcement.

While

Prison on the other hand is also a protected facility (bigger) built to detent inmates who are serving long term sentence. Prison serves has a place for rehabilitation, skill acquisition and Recreation.

My pen is down already, I hope you now understand the differences between these terms!

Thank you!
