Hello Steemian so in a recent report from the academics at the University of California in Santa Barbara it reported the devastating impact that our man made plastics are having on our environment.

-Infact humans have produced 8.3 billion tonnes of plastics.
-This is the number of produced plastic since 1950 and the recent report.

-Thats the equivalent weight of one billion elephants.
-If we were spread out all of that plastic ankle deep it would cover the landmass of Argentina.

-Its sad to hear but approximately 80 percent of it doesn't get recycled
-The non recycled plastics end up in our landfills
-Continuing on at this present rate we are looking at producing 34 billion tonnes by 2050.

Such figures should be shocking no? But are they really shocking enough?

As we may be thinking to ourselves how awful and that something needs be done but really how many of us are likely to change our buying habits because of what we’ve just read?

Come on lets be honest here arent we already constantly being told about the depleting ozone layer?
The melting ice caps?
What about all this weird yet extreme weather surely some of you have noticed that?
And just so much of the wild animal habitat as been lost?

But most likely the truth is this read most likely wont make you change.. I think some of us do look onto a world that doesn’t seem to change regardless of all the damage but I guess we are lucky there are some great people out there trying to find solutions.

But as environmentalists have pointed out time after time with their warnings such detachment from our own earth is one of the main reasons we’re still failing to tackle climate change.
Its said when it comes to saving our planet we are going to need more then a few people to change their own behaviour if we are to save our planet.

One thing to think about is what kind of education could we be using to educate people about the effects we are causing on our planet?
The solution to this could be Virtual Reality.

If the post gets enough interest I will dive a little deeper into this next time.

I believe your on point with that and it is really shocking to see the number figure of what it is now. The government have urge people to recycle but is it enough? when will it be to late?

I know right @hotmangoes the whole of Argentina!? I guess its true the government are suggesting people do it they dont always provide the means to do it and are they doing enough? Should it even be them pushing the people? Good questions some say its nearly there..gulp.

This recycling information is interesting. We all have to recycle

We have to be more careful @amedeo with what we do with our rubbish thanks for the supprt.
