Have you noticed that countries with the word "democtratic" in their names in many cases are not democratic at all?
Democratic countries?
Consider the countries "Democratic Republic of the Congo" and "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" (usually referred to as simply North Korea). They're not the first countries that comes to mind when we think about democracy. In fact, these countries are usually considered authoritarian regimes.
Democracy index list
Peter Vojtek wrote a nice summary of countries with the word "democratic" in their name, and cross referenced that list with a democracy index list, and posted the result here. Here's the resulting table (copied from the article):
It is always like this, just as in the USA they have the least united states (I am in favor of that).
Maybe it's kind of an unwritten rule: If you explicitly state something in the name of your country, the country's politic situation is the opposite of that statement.
