The title is copied from an article on www.cryptocoinsnews.com that was recently published. We've all heard tech guys claim that blockchain technology will revolutinoize many areas in life, but for me I'd yet to read a well written summary of a few chosen areas. I though I'd share it with the blockchain interested readers here on the Steem blockchain. I'll cover only a couple of topics, and I urge the interested reader to read the source I linked to.

Identification

Identity theft is a major problem already, and will probably grow larger in the years to come. By putting identity records on the blockchain, the data will be impossible to manipulate. Estonia is already implementing such a system.

Public Trust & Accountability

Today, records on land ownership and election votes are typically stored in database systems. Those systems are not by default tamper proof, so sofisticated hackers can manipulate these records. By putting these data on the blockchain, they'll be tamper proof. So it's quite possible that within the years to come, we'll see critical data such as these stored on the blockchain. The common user won't notice the different, but the fact that it's stored on the blockchain make trust in the government and data holders irrelevant - we can trust the blockchain, and won't need to worry about for example corrupt government officials.
