First Look at a Research Paper

in #education5 years ago (edited)

Everyone has had that moment in college where they’re required to write a research paper that extensively covers a topic. The research paper is a portion of writing that someone does after doing in-depth research. A college student can either decide to do the research paper themselves and go through making the painstaking study or pay for quality online service like PapersOwl. Students might find the process of writing a research paper hard and complex, particularly because of the cost, time and stress.
However, with proper guidance and strict adherence to the steps pertaining to research ethics, one can come out on top. The steps to be followed and help you to complete the best piece are outlined below.

1.Selection of the Topic to Write on

Selecting the topic, you will write on is the most important part of writing any research paper. Your topic is what other steps in the piece will be centered upon. So you can reduce the amount of research you’ll have to make, choose a narrow topic. For instance, instead of writing on ‘World Leaders’, you can write on ‘Mahatma Gandhi.’ After choosing your topic, you’re expected to meet up with your lecturer and get his approval on your theme.

2.Sourcing for Information

Although the fastest and easiest way to get general information about a topic is from the internet, you can get a lot more information from a library. In the library, you can get a lot of books with different perspectives on a single topic. While working in the library, its best to use a notebook to track information that has been ascertained. You can bookmark the websites you found viable information on, record bibliographical information which include the names of the author, publishing company, and numbers of pages on which valuable information was found, etc. The bibliographical information is majorly needed because you’ll need to quote your sources while writing the research.
If you do not have ideas on where to start from in the library, you can simply ask the librarians to direct you to the best place you can carry out your research. Once you’re done at the library, don’t stop your research. Even while you’re home, you can ponder on the information you gathered.

3.Thesis Statement

Usually, such papers need a thesis statement. You can make inquiries from your lecturer so you can know if a thesis statement is essential. The thesis statement will be the point around which other ideas in your paper revolve. Since it is so important, you’ll have to carefully word your thesis statement. The statement will be one of the first points to appear in your write-up.
To best create a thesis statement, you’ll have penned down and organized all your ideas. After the completion of the research paper, you can then critically think about what your thesis statement would be. The statement would serve as the first impression of your piece.

4.Organization of Your Paper

Your write-up needs to have segments in a way suited for custom research papers. The first is the Title Page. After that is the Abstract which summarizes your research paper. The summary has to be less than 250 words. After the abstract, you have the introduction, which could be a short comment that opens up into the body. The body comes after the introduction. A reference follows the body and is usually the last part of your research paper.
After your research paper has been structured, you’ll need to make sure that the information you have is authentic. As a plus, you can counter opposing points made by other authors in the body of your research paper.

5.Type Your Paper

According to the standard, research papers have to be printed out after they have been typed. Before printing your paper out, you’d have to proofread it so you’d make sure there have been absolutely no mistakes. Your paper should have been printed out 4 days prior to the deadline.
