Learn Guitar: D Dorian Spacing
Today we dive deep into the Dorian mode and the spacing between intervals. The intervals of dorian in reference to ionian would be 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 1, 2. But if we look at the 2 as a 1, the intervals would be 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6, b7, 1.
The spacing between intervals in Ionian is w, w, h, w, w, w, h. Thus the spacing in Dorian would be w, h, w, w, w, h, w.
A previous video goes more indept of how to play D Dorian in a certain postion and different perspectives that can be deployed to understand and play guitar subject to our constraints. Tomorrow we will discuss the interval spacing of E Phrygian. Then we will discuss common interval patterns. Then we will get into soloing and modifications of Ionian such as harmonic and melodic scales.
