17 MUST SEE TEACHER MOVIES

in #education7 years ago

In this post, I would like to share some of the most inspirational teacher-related movies which I think could inspire and somehow change every educator’s perspective towards teaching.

Note that the following movies are arranged in no particular order.

 1. Like Stars on Earth

“Every child has his own capabilities, his own desires, his own dreams.”

 2. Lean on Me

“This is an institution of learning, ladies and gentlemen. If you can’t control it, how can you teach? Discipline is not the enemy of enthusiasm!”

 3. Blackboards

“My heart is like a train. At every station, someone gets on or off. But there is someone who never gets off. My son.”

 4. 3 Idiots

“I wasn’t teaching you engineering, that you know better than me. I was teaching you how to teach.”

 5. Summer School

“Be true to yourself and students will listen.”

 6. The Class

“I didn’t ask you what you liked in the class, I want to know what did you learn from it.”

 7. Dead Poets Society

“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”

 8. Chalk

“Real teaching leaves a mark.”

 9. The Great Debaters

“When the nation was in need, he inspired them to give us hope.”

 10. Finding Forrester

“No thinking – that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is… to write, not to think!”

 11. Half Nelson

“Change moves in spirals, not circles. For example, the sun goes up and then it goes down. But everytime that happens, what do you get? You get a new day. You get a new one. When you breathe, you inhale and you exhale, but every single time that you do that you’re a little bit different then the one before. We’re always changing. And its important to know that there are some changes you can’t control and that there are others you can.”

 12. Freedom Writers

“I’m a teacher, it doesn’t matter what color I am.”

 13. Stand and Deliver

“It’s not that they’re stupid, it’s just they don’t know anything.”

 14. Detachment

“We have such a responsibility to guide our young so that they don’t end up falling apart, falling by the wayside, becoming insignificant.”

 15. The Chorus

“Never say never. Something’s always worth trying.”

 16. Pay It Forward

“I think some people are too scared, or something. I guess it’s hard for people who are so used to things the way they are – even if they’re bad – to change. ‘Cause they kind of give up. And when they do, everybody kind of loses.”

 17. The Emperor’s Club

“A great teacher has little external history to record. His life goes over into other lives. These men are pillars in the intimate structure of our schools. They are more essential than its stones or beams, and they will continue to be a kindling force and a revealing power in our lives.”

Have you seen one of the movies on this list yet? If you’ve seen a related movie that’s not on the list, please share it with us on the comments section.

which was your top 3 favorite?

Hi @descterity. Here's my personal top 3 favorites:
#1 - 3 Idiots
#2 - Like Stars on Earth
#3 - Half Nelson
3 Idiots for me is a total package. You'll laugh, cry, you'll even get mad because of the antagonists. Never a dull moment when I saw the movie. I've actually seen it three times already. :)

:) i have watched 0 out of 17 of the movies you shared. Going for 3 Idiots first.

No way... you should definitely binge-watch on weekends. 3 Idiots is an excellent choice. Hope you enjoy and learn a lot from the movie.
