Wisdom and Intelligence: Relationship or difference?

Many times I have been asked if wisdom is the same as intelligence, if it is born with intelligence or is acquired going to school, if wisdom gives years of experience or comes from the deepest in the interior.

Many people may claim that these two concepts are the same, that they are synonymous and others may claim that they are totally different, but in reality it can be said that although they are not totally different or totally equal, these two relate. These two concepts imply: knowledge

First we begin with wisdom; This concept can be defined as a skill that is applied with intelligence, which is acquired over time through our experiences gaining new knowledge. Wisdom is knowing, that is why commonly the elderly people are called wise, because they know everything, this thanks to what they have spent throughout their lives.

It should be emphasized that:

Wisdom is not taught, but is developed through time, of experience.

Intelligence is the ability to generate new information by combining the information we receive from the outside with the one we have in our memory. Art and virtue are parameters of Wisdom; So that without some of them one could not be wise. On the contrary, one can be intelligent without being wise. Or artist without being virtuous or very intelligent.

Intelligence is far more valued than Wisdom; Because one can be intelligent without being wise; Which happens to 99% of the smart.

Paradox of wisdom and intelligence

There is a paradox regarding intelligence and wisdom: it is better to be an imperfect and clumsy sage than to be simply intelligent and very efficient.

The reason is that if you succeed by doing the wrong things because you are very efficient, and each time you are better at what you do and still learn, in time you will only make the situation worse: the smarter you are, the faster you will achieve the goals Wrong

On the contrary, if you fail or do not get the right things to the first, your learning - even if it is slow - will put you in a better situation and eventually get closer to the right goals. You may never reach the summit, but every step of the way will have been meaningful. And that is already a top.

I agree with your sentiment. Wisdom comes with experience and the ability to reflect on those experiences to understand what went well and what didn't and then taking that understanding into the next experience to improve the outcome. It is definitely possible to be wise, but not so intelligent as well as being intelligent but not very wise.

😨😳 I did not realize
