Unreliable Teacher

A Vietnamese was asking about why teachers com to work, to class, to teach, late, sometimes. In many cases, especially in Vietnam for example where I live in Saigon, this happens a lot it seems. I replied to that thread the follow. Unreliability comes from ideologies, habits, apathy, subjectivity, progressivism, ignorance, arrogance, stress, hate, pain, depression, distraction, and so on. In some cases, it depends. For me, I got lost trying to find some schools in Saigon in 2013. I called & told them & they said I was the only teacher with that problem. I told them that's not true. In many cases, students don't come, on the other hand. In some cases, teachers feel that if students can make up excuses and not come, then why not the teachers, too. In many cases, my students came late or did not come at all. In many cases, there are double standards. Different people are different. But in many cases, LEFTISM is the root cause of this one thing for example. This one discussion is a symptom of deeper roots, fundamentally speaking.

Somebody said Vietnam is not America, the USA, or something like that. True, but Vietnamese might be trying to be like the USA, like the west. Here is what I wrote as follows: Lorin Barrett it goes both ways. Foreigners can try to accept Vietnam culture and everything, including the work. On the other hand, Vietnamese could maybe try harder to maybe sometimes adopt foreign culture, rules, ways of doing things, ideas, and so on. Vietnamese can do what they want but they are already accepting some western culture, ways of doing things, and so on. It is not like Vietnamese are not trying to change. Vietnamese kind of say sometimes they are trying to be like other countries. So, if that is true, then they could maybe sometimes benefit from taking some advice from foreigners. It is very simple. Vietnamese are not really saying they hate Europe, the USA, Australia, the west, their people, their stuff. You know. Maybe sometimes. But logically it seems that if Vietnamese are trying to be more like the west, then they should then try more to be like west if they are in fact trying to be a little bit more like the west.........

.

Teachers are maybe paid too much. Here is what I say. True, some English teachers are paid much more for much less work when compared to normal teachers. Some might considered that bad. Maybe, normal teachers are not paid enough for grading papers, for the after-hours work. Maybe, English Teachers are paid too much and too often. This is a debate. That is the art of capitalism, supply and demand. If the schools are paying English Teachers too much, then that is their problem, their mistake. It is the job of the teacher to make as much money as possible. But it is also the job of students, schools, employers, to do the opposite. That is common sense. That is where the battle lies. That is the conflict. Teachers will always want more. But schools may want to pay less. And the debate goes back and forth in the art of the deal, of negotiations. Both sides should do their best to argue why they should get what they want be it more money, less money, better lessons, etc...........

.

In regards to hiring: Too many try to be like helicopter parents, I mean helicopter employers, AKA micromanage too much... instead of lead, train, inspire, and stuff.
