ArcGIS 10.3: Tutorial Assignment 1-1 Solution - Analyze Population by Race in Top 10 States
I am currently taking a graduate course in GIS using AcrGIS 10.3. I noticed after an extensive online search, there was very little information of the chapter assignments. Many people may have issues trying to understand the instructions in order to complete these assignments. I decided to create so posts to cover these important exercises.

The Solution: Build the Map
Get Statistics:
This was taken from the Excel file as the assignment required you to create an Excel or Word table from the exported attributes table in ArcGIS Map.
Create a Word Document: Summary
In this part you can summarize some general observations from the exercise:
- All States are located near major water sources with the exception of Illinois.
- Majority of population (numbers) is ethnically represented by Asian, Black then White
Obviously, you can add your own name and title to the final document as well as summarize in paragraph form some of the information derived from the map and table.
Hopefully this will be useful for those of you working your way through a GIS course as ArcGIS is the staple program utilized for learning and on the job. If there is enough interest I will begin working through the other exercises and post similar articles.
