This is great. I actually use something very similar in my lessons sometimes, but it's just off the top of my head as vocabulary comes up in conversation and I naturally think of associations the students will be familiar with.
Great that you are using memory techniques with your students. I wish I had a teacher like you in my school days. I learned about memory techniques after school.
