An inspiring and motivating teacher can sway some students from having neutral opinions about a subject to liking/loving the subject

This... in short "teacher factor" though sometimes not true to all because of multiple intelligences. But in teaching Math I strongly agree! It is not enough to be smart, you need to consider your audience as well... find ways to make them feel that learning Math is fun.
