Student Loan Debt Is CRUSHING Millennials And Infringing On Equal Opportunity

It's time to make a change...

Student Loan Debt is at 1.5 TRILLION in the United States. It has become a massive issue that is providing one more roadblock for someone to make headway in this world.

Aren't there enough obstacles??

Already, someone's place of birth, skin color, and socioeconomic status causes issues for young Americans to overcome. Regardless of whether or not you believe gender, race, and status to have an effect, it is impossible to deny they have SOME effect over a person's outcome in life.

If anything, they are obstacles to be overcome rather than an indifference.

This video by the Young Turks does a decent job of summarizing where we currently are at in the world...

The US government is creating ONE MORE obstacle that will prevent equality of opportunity: student loan debt.

In most of its forms, debt is slavery.

Do you know what I mean by "wage slavery"?

The idea that a person MUST get a job paying a certain income in order to survive.

In other words, if you need to pay $600 in student loans, plus rent, plus cost of living, it requires you to work a certain level of job.

It prevents you from working a part-time job to pay the bills while you pursue something more creative...

It prevents you from living with your parents for a few months while you start a business.

Nope, you must get some sort of job.

Obviously, there are exceptions but this is the reality facing many college graduates. They are FORCED into a job by the system. They are forced to chase after a certain level of income, even if that isn't necessarily what they might desire personally.

Why is this such an issue?

Well, to begin, it keeps a cycle going that should not be continued... The cycle that has been repeated since the industrial age. Here's the issue: THE INDUSTRIAL AGE IS OVER!

That system of preparing students for work in a factory should be eradicated. The world has changed.

The internet drastically accelerates our ability to connect and work with one another. We are entering the age of connection, the age of transparency, and the age of opportunity.

The student loan crisis is a hearkening back to times when the world was a more dangerous place... When travel was more complicated... When kids were prepared for a shitty job in a factory instead of a life of adventure and opportunity.

Are you shaking your head at what I just wrote?

Are you thinking "this is all just unrealistic".

THAT is what I'm writing about here... That way of thinking is propagated by a system that is doing so on purpose, against your best interest.

Saddling kids with debt they barely understand is an example of denying humans the opportunity they so deserve... The opportunity that is their birthright.

It's time to make a change.

It's time for that movement to begin.

UGH!!! I owe more in student loans than I make in a year.

What is the issue is that SO MANY folks are in your shoes... Most of the grads I know are in your position.

When it gets that bad, we need a new system.

Couldn't agree more. I am a teacher and I believe in people educating themselves, but getting that education shouldn't be so expensive. Student loan payments should never cost the same as a mortgage. It's ridiculous

I know... it’s shooting kids in the feet before they even begin. We are working on starting a university and plan to offer free tuition... currently brainstorming a way to make this happen but we’ve got some good ideas floating around :)... free education NEEDS to be the result. If we truly care enough about it, there’s ways to make it happen.

Highly rEsteemed!
