I just think that there are areas where public spending and regulation are needed.
yup.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

  • The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

  • To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

  • To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
    (note...the meaning of the word regulate in this usage, means to make regular as in NOT IMPEDE...in fact the various eighteen GAWD-zillion regulatory agencies and their ten million rules and regulations are doing exactly the opposite...they are breaking federal law and should be prosecuted)

  • To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

  • To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures; (_note..it does NOT say anything about prohibiting others from doing the same thing)

  • To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States (note..crypto currencies are NOT current coin or securities of the United State..that makes them OK)

  • To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries; (doesn't say anything about funding them)

  • To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

  • To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; (hows that worked out?)

  • To provide and maintain a Navy;

  • To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

  • To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square)_ (the feds, thus illegally, own half of the West...guverment land is specifically prohibited) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;—And

etc..etc...etc..
the constitution is a restraining order on the Federal Government...and the Feds have pretty much ignored it...consequently the government...as it now stands...is in violation of the constitution.


what it boils down to...is the Feds...with todays tech...only real job it to protect the homeland. Border patrol in other words..
which they are failing at miserably.

I'm very glad to hear that :) It's been an interesting discussion for me, too and I appreciate the time you've spent replying and making your points. Looking forward to your post.

Oh, when we are talking about how the government should be structured, we already agree on the idea that there should be some government and regulation. Then the question is how to do it best and that's a whole new universe. I personally think that the US government and political systems are far from efficient and while there are some OK examples around the world, most governments on Earth are too corrupt and inefficient (some more than others obviously).

We are kind of back to the very beginning of this discussion which I think started by us agreeing on an obvious problem but disagreeing on the solution. But I do believe that's closer to an actual solution than disagreeing on the problem.
