Exam
The Nation has a pulse – sign of life.
Her heart palpitates – seriously so.
But you would be baffled to know
That Nigeria’s current High BP stems from the academia
As boys and girls await their results.
.
.
It swells to unnerving proportions in Medical Schools,
As nymph medics attempt to scale the MBBS hurdles.
So I say to one, if your heart must, let it palpitate;
But let your mood and composure be calm,
For a doctor’s assured aura is the first assuager of the patient’s trepidation.
.
.
If I were an examiner,
I’d be watching them all from a vantage position, like a sniper;
Noting those whose hysteria would be calamitous in the theatre.
Though their grades be all right,
My countenance would bear no averment of their triumph.
.
.
Get a grip of yourself!
This training is not for books alone.
Stand tall, whatever the outcome; composure has its marks.
Surmount all written and oral tests all you want,
The real deal awaits you in the wards and theaters.
