Hello everyone. In this (non-math) post, I briefly go over watching international sports on TV for learning. As our world is more global, it is helpful to be aware and mindful of other nations and cultures. This is helpful for young children and adults alike.

Sports Gone Global
A lot of sports these days have athletes from all over the world. Some sports are more global than others and there are sports which are limited to certain regions and countries. Regardless of the sport's popularity, all athletes put in the hard work and time to achieve victory, fame and money.
Being Aware Of Different Countries And Cultures In Sports
From a young age, I grew up watching tennis (and I still watch today). Tennis players from all over the world compete in various tennis tournaments held in different countries and cities (depending on the schedule). Over time, I got introduced to various countries and cities just by watching tennis.
Watching international sports helps you get used to seeing different types of people, different mentalities and different play styles. You sometimes receive a few geography and culture lessons from live sports. One game would be recognizing different flags from countries.

E-Sports & Gaming
Compared to athletic sports, e-sports is relatively young. It is growing as more and more people are noticing it and investing money into it.
My first exposure to E-Sports was through watching Korean Starcraft - Brood War around 2008 onwards. Now, I currently watch Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Teams in e-sports compete in regular international tournaments that are held in different countries and regions. In these tournaments, you get to see top level professional gamers compete for titles. The diversity in cultures, ethnicities, play styles and skills is a joy to see.
