Computer Architecture Basic Topics and Discussions

Hi @chuuuckie here again. In this blog we will be talking more about Computer Architecture and its functions. Basically I will be explaining the key features of Computer Architecture and why is it implemented to Universities and Colleges. As a Computer Engineering student Computer Architecture plays an important part of Computer Engineering.

What is Computer Architecture

"Computer Architecture and Organization is the study of internal working, structuring and implementation of a computer system. Architecture in computer system, same as anywhere else, refers to the externally visual attributes of the system. Externally visual attributes, here in computer science, mean the way a system is visible to the logic of programs (not the human eyes!). Organization of computer system is the way of practical implementation which results in realization of architectural specifications of a computer system. In more general language, Architecture of computer system can be considered as a catalog of tools available for any operator using the system, while Organization will be the way the system is structured so that all those cataloged tools can be used, and that in an efficient fashion." -Wikipedia

You may have heard about Architecture. Architecture sounds designing, constructing and visualizing the work with physical appearance. In Computer Architecture there will be such cases that there would be literally no Physical appearance but only the principle of constructing and organizing the Computer.

Structuring and Implementation of a Computer System

A system of a computer is really hard to understand, everything that is inside the Computer are communicating through 1's and 0's by the power of electricity. The structure of a computer system means the functions of an Operating System. Operating System services like

• Program Execution
• I/O Operations
• File System Manipulation
• Communications
• Error detection

Computer Architecture is Visibly seen by Logic

As I have mentioned above lately. Which means, you cannot view the Architecture and its design Physically. What you are able to do and view the design of a Computer Architecture is by Logic.

You need to know and be oriented that Computer Architecture is an intermediate discussion. Others find it so hard that they literally fail the topic. My experience about this topics related to Computer Architecture was bit complicated. We learn through our mistakes and that was not really a bad thing. Functions of Computer Architecture

More importantly, this is the very beginning of the topic. You will be learning about the keys and the functions of a Computer Architecure and its terms. Things like the Evolution of Computer System, the Performance rate of each Computer Processor and the History of Computer.

Computer System

Topics will encounter by the student and important discussions like the Cache Memory, Cache Organization and Cache implementation. We already tackled the topic about Storage devices which it all includes here in Computer Architecture. The students may also encounter topics like Internal and External Memory.

Computer Processing

This also is an Important topic. On which the student may able to understand how the Processor communicates to Input and Output devices. How do they manage to communicate while the cursor is still moving? . Processes like Parallel processing, Multithreading, Clusters and Symmetric & Asymmetric Multi-processor.

I won't be explaining all the details of Computer Architecture. But I know someday this blog will be useful for those who wanted to study Computer Architecture. The student or maybe the reader can prepare him/herself for the important topics related to Computer Architecture. Thus some instructors do not have specific Goal on why the student should learn this topic and what is the importance of the topic.
