Are bunnies prolific as everyone thinks they are?

Is there truth to the phrase "breeding like rabbits"?

Kindove.. but the logistics are much more complex when it comes to bunny breeding. There are signs and tell alls that many people are blind to. Oddly enough.. more often than not, the female is the one who gives the approval of the male. Bunny "foreplay" consists of the male circling and showing off his tail. The more interesting topic of bunny breeding is the buffer time at which they can begin to breed again. For bunnies, a full breeding cycle only takes roughly 10 - 20 seconds. This is believed to be so because they are pre animals, so in order to multiply they have evolved to be one of the fastest breeding species in existence.. or at least in existence on this planet. Who knows what's out there. An average bunny reaches sexual maturity around 3-6 months of age.. with a decline in sexual activity not until about 10 years of age. Female bunnies carry means in their bodies to produce a menstrual cycle, so its game on from the time of maturity. The gestation period for a bunny takes about 30 days and each litter produces about 6 babies on average. However there are circumstances that have been documented of bunnies having up to 20 babies at a time. Once the gestation period comes to an end and the birthing process is complete, it only takes about 24 hours for the female to become "ready" for the next round. A female bunny in her lifetime can produce upwards of 120 litter give or take. As bunnies themselves live to be about 10 - 12 years of age. Most bunnies today that we keep as pets become "fixed" or neutered in order to reduce problems. I do not believe that fixing an animal is natural, but I will argue the fact that it is best to have a bunny fixed.. especially if they are female. About 60% - 70% of all female bunnies develop uterine cancer as they age, so this can be completely avoided by getting them neutered. So yes.. bunnies procreate on an exponential scale compared to any other species.. but there is always more than meets the eye when it comes to bunnies.
