Homeschooling is evolving. It’s no longer a fringe preference for people at the margins. It’s doctors and lawyers, soccer moms, and individuals who have lost faith in the American education system.

It’s estimated that over 2 million children are now homeschooled. That is an increase of 75 percent in the last two decades and the numbers don’t seem to be slowing. Within the next 5 to 10 years, exponential growth is expected as more people grow frustrated and disillusioned with the system. The U.S. school system is not only failing our children in what they teach but how they teach as well.

A desire to learn is something that is intrinsic to children and is something the current system actively stymies by teaching primarily to improve performance metrics on standardized tests. This short term thinking has incentivized teaching kids what to learn and not how to learn. Many schools are not giving our kids the tools they need to succeed and leaving them completely unprepared for life after public education. Homeschooling is an alternative becoming increasingly more attractive to discerning parents.
