It seems that nutrition and sleep are almost completely disconnected. However, in fact, food and sleep are closely related.

So, for example, if a child falls asleep on an empty stomach, a feeling of hunger will disturb the baby and prevent him from sleeping. Also, even if the baby falls asleep hungry, he will surely wake up at night and be capricious.

If, on the contrary, the baby eats excessively before going to bed, the heaviness in the stomach has no dates for him to sleep. In addition, by overeating, the child often suffers from pain caused by intestinal colic.

Parents should also be aware that allergenic foods can deprive their child of sleep for more than one night. Never give new foods that are unfamiliar to your child at night, before bedtime.

It is quite difficult to name the optimal time for a dinner. For babies whose mother breastfeeds at her first request, no restrictions are needed. But older children should eat about an hour and a half before bedtime. In this way, the child will not go to bed hungry, but will not suffer heaviness in the stomach.

Also, when preparing the child's diet, keep in mind the fact that at night it is extremely undesirable to take fatty and heavy foods. Dairy dishes, vegetables and fruits will be the best meal before bedtime. This fact, by the way, applies not only to children: adults are not recommended to eat fatty, spicy, salty and fried foods before bedtime.

If a nursing baby suffers from intestinal colic, her mother urgently needs to review her diet and exclude all foods that can cause increased gas formation.

Studies have shown that the use of cow's milk by a nursing mother causes severe stomach cramps in the child, and the baby does not sleep well at night. If you are breastfeeding a baby, try to completely exclude cow's milk from your diet, replacing it with any sour milk product. However, be careful with the use of cheese: its excessive amount can cause constipation in the child.

In addition, there is a version among dietitians that in children chronic sleep disorders are often caused by a child who eats salicylates. Salicylates are found in large amounts in acetylsalicylic acid, food colors and flavor enhancers, in tomatoes, raspberries, lemons and oranges.

As a general rule, the exclusion of products containing sacilites from the diet makes it possible to normalize the child's sleep after 4 to 5 days. If you have the slightest suspicion that your child's sleep disturbance is the result of the use of salicytes, be sure to tell your pediatrician to your doctor about your suspicions.
