Direct experiences are a fun way to acquire knowledge and in turn develop fundamental skills to carry out various functions.

When the individual is allowed to relate directly, he is open to an infinite opportunity for stimulation in favor of personal and professional benefit over time.

By promoting education through direct experience, a positive and enriching development is achieved that only by being in direct contact can it be possible, generating new essential and important learnings to be properly trained to face the daily challenges.


Direct experience in the dentist.


Students will learn about hygiene to keep the mouth and teeth in perfect condition, including the steps to follow to avoid falling into a regrettable deterioration.

This experience will encourage children to the career of dentistry, to be careful with the foods they eat, as well as to learn strategies to help with hygiene and the good condition of the teeth.

Students will realize the importance of brushing, which leads to a bad habit of hygiene, the irreparable consequences and the procedures that are carried out to obtain perfect teeth.


Objectives of the experience in the dentist.

  • That the students learn from the care of the teeth.
  • Learning what causes a bad habit.
  • Through practice, students learn how to prevent cavities.
  • That the children are encouraged to the career of dentistry.
  • Be able to take into account the benefits of hygiene.

Duties of the educator, so that the experience in the dentist is enriching for the learning.

The educator has the duty to talk with the students about the behavior they must have in order for the experience to be carried out satisfactorily.

For example, it should be mentioned:

  • Be careful with the work tools.
  • Follow all instructions from the dentist in charge of providing information for the activities.
  • They can not get away from the group.
  • It is important that they work as a team.
It is intended that this experience is one of the many that can be carried out with excellent educational and personal results.

Activities of learning and fun in the dentist.

The direct experiences are much more than what can simply be noted, is to achieve radical change for learning and reinforcement of the knowledge already acquired.

Activities:

Initiation of learning with an induction of the dental theme.

It is mandatory to inform the students with tangible evidence, what is a tooth, its formation, what is the crown, the root and the parts that compose it.

Children will have fun and learn, since they will have the opportunity to work and perform the functions of a dentist, thoroughly investigating what happens when working with a patient's mouth.

It will be explained that the practices will be carried out with mannequins that are used to acquire the necessary skills for dental work.

Showing the patient's mouth.

The doctor will show the students how the patient should be prepared for their revision, and how the dentist should treat it, since the mouth is very sensitive and requires great care not to hurt.

This superficial teaching is with the aim of assimilating the performance of the dentist, when proceeding to work in the mouth of the patient.

Working on cleaning.

A piece containing the shape of the teeth will be provided and the children will clean it before going directly into the patient's mouth. This will be done to observe how they will leave those teeth when they proceed to clean them, as well as to verify if the gums have been hurt by them in the use of the facilitated tool.

Surgical clothing and dental work.

It is necessary for students to learn that within the habits of hygiene is that the doctor uses appropriate clothing as well as the inclusion of equipmentfor hands and face.

Among which can be mentioned:

  • Gloves
  • Masks
  • Apron.
It is mandatory and is part of the requirements demanded by hygienic standards for dental and health processes.

Teaching of manipulation of dental tools.

The dentist will teach the children with the use of mannequins to introduce dental tools in the mouth of the patients, around each activity that is required.

With this practice, children will understand that it is not just about manipulating dental tools, but that the necessary knowledge is needed to do it, and that is only possible when studying, thus acquiring the knowledge that gives rise to this important practice.

It is a way to guide children to enter the dental career, if it is their passion.

Dental review, performed by students.

After a detailed explanation by the dentist, the children will exercise these functions to complete that part of the activity successfully.

They will use the tools, each as explained. They will be under supervision to verify that they have learned and do the right thing in practice.

They will detect deterioration, damaged amalgam, among others that will be in the mouth of the dummies as part of the activity and whose main function is to help the acquisition of learning and good habits, so as not to have this kind of problems.

Dental orthopantomography review.

The dentist will teach students how to see and analyze dental x-rays. Explain why everything happens and what should be done to correct this situation.

It is necessary to know that a practice is not enough to carry out these procedures, however, these direct expereinces will give way to new knowledge and reinforcements of the acquired ones.

Students will appreciate through these images, the changes that originate in each process carried out in surgeries and dental procedures.

Showing the correct brushing method.

The dentist will teach children how to brush properly to keep the denture free of debris and minimize the presence of decay.

It is essential that students capture the process and then apply it in their daily lives, and in the same way, they can take the information to friends and family, creating the same habit of hygiene.


Children brush under supervision.

By receiving information on how to brush, children proceed to carry out what they have learned in practice.

The dentist will supervise and help, so that they can apply it correctly. The practice is the best aid exercise to validate the knowledge that has been acquired.

Activities in the classroom, after direct experience in the dentist.

It is necessary that the learning is not left alone in the lived experience, it must be reinforced with practices in the school.

The educator will have the task of stimulating the children in the following way:

Activity number 1: The drawing.

  • Children should draw teeth that are in perfect condition and others that are damaged.
  • They will make utensils used by dentists, as well as surgical clothing.
  • Children can have a medical suit if they prefer to make the activity more fun.

Activity number 2: Realization of teeth with recycled material.

When creativity is stimulated, learning is obtained with great potential. This activity will generate enthusiasm and help develop skills.

The educator will request to create a model of teeth with recycled material, including healthy and damaged teeth. Then, they will proceed to explain in detail why these changes occur and what is needed to improve and avoid such occurrence.
