Hello, dear steemians. This time I present a topic related to the aggressive behavior of children in the classroom. Aggressive behavior affects not only the child who manifests it, it also affects the group, which hinders the teaching and learning process.

Aggressive children in the classroom? Ideas to control them.

Psychologists say that this aggressiveness in children comes from a feeling of frustration that they can not channel themselves. In addition, they affirm that the family has a great impact on this behavior, since for the child "his family is everything" and this means that they are his role model, so if the child comes from a delicate family environment, the will lead to any situation.

Unfortunately, this aggressive behavior does not stay at home, because the child takes it to any space and one of them is the classroom. As teachers, it is possible to observe situations in which a child responds with blows, taunts and offenses towards a classmate or, perhaps, a teacher. It may respond as a defense mechanism, but it still becomes a problem for the child and the development of activities within the classroom. At the same time, it represents a necessary subject for the teacher to correct in the classroom.

Seen in this way, we can identify an aggressive child as someone who tries to harm other children by hitting them, mocking them, offending children their own age (or smaller than he) and adults. This aggressive behavior, if not corrected in time, will result in the formation of an adult who lacks social skills that allow him to develop in harmony with others. This will be a rude and abusive adult.

Ideas to improve the child's aggressive behavior:

Talk with your parents:

Before attempting any action to control the child's behavior, it will be necessary for you to investigate the behavior of the parents together and separately so that you can arrive at a diagnosis of the situation. Although doing this has important implications for the teacher and the institution, it is a step that should not be ignored, because this will allow knowing the family context of the child.

Watch your attitude:

As teachers we have to bear in mind that, although the child behaves aggressively and often controlling it is an arduous task, we must have a calm and patient attitude, because the child tends to learn these behaviors by imitation. Therefore, inside the room, it is convenient to create a space in which respect, harmony and good treatment reign. This takes some time, but the child will learn to behave appropriately.

Give the example:

Children tend to imitate the behavior of their closest adults: dad, mom and grandparents. But, in the classroom the closest adult is the teacher, therefore, the behavior of the teacher will define the behavior of the child.

Maintain constant communication between the family and the teacher:

In order for the child's behavior to change within the classroom, it will be necessary to maintain a constant flow of information between the child's parents and the teacher to try to improve the child's behavior among all.

Coexistence activities:

It fosters activities in the classroom in which children have to interact with each other, perhaps a game. In this activity the child will have to put into practice social strategies to be able to intervene in it. At the moment of observing any indication of aggressiveness on the part of the child, to intervene to correct the behavior and continue. This type of activities will promote teamwork will make the child have to adapt to the established guidelines.

Correcting this type of behavior in time will guarantee the formation of a healthy adult emotionally and mentally. An adult who will have harmonious and rewarding interpersonal relationships for him and others.
