Childhood rhymes can help.

I remember at school when we first learned our alphabet and times tables - recited to a tune we all seemed to know - whether we 'knew' because we'd been taught from a young age or not, I couldn't possibly speculate.

Mr B, Mr E, Mr A, U, T, Mr I, Mr F, U, L - famously recited in the film Matilda and shot down in flames by Miss Trunchbull, but rhymes can help.

Every name is called a noun;
As field and fountain, street and town.
In place of a noun the pronoun stands;
As he and she clap their hands.
The adjective describes a thing,
As magic wand or bridal ring.
The verb means action, something done,
To read and write, to jump and run.
How things are done the adverbs tell,
As quickly, slowly, badly or well.
Preposition shows relation,
As in the street or at the station.
Conjunction joins in many ways,
Sentences, words or phrase and phrase.
The interjection cries out hark!
I need an exclamation mark!
Through poetry, we learn how each,
Of these make up the parts of speech.

This is one to teach my 5 year old and she will memorize and impress her teachers. (When she impresses her teachers, she gets a Jewel in the Crown.)

I'm pleased to be of some assistance.

How is your daughter doing with memorizing it?
