Now that we have a better understanding of patriarchy and matriarchy, what is your ideal societal structure?

In my past 2 EcoTrain question of the week posts I discussed what my understanding of Patriarchy and Matriarchy are.

https://steemit.com/ecotrain/@trucklife-family/ecotrain-question-of-the-week-what-is-patriarchy-is-a-patriarchy-the-same-as-a-society-led-by-men-or-is-it-more-a-society-led-by

We are currently living in a Patriarchy society. A society that rules by fear and dominance. That from a very young age promotes gender roles, that have divided and segregated us all.We must be seen to act and live in a certain way if we wish to be accepted and included. A dominant rule that continues to oppress women, destroy the planet and disrespect our children.

A Matriarchy society has many definitions, everyone seems to have their idea about what they were or are. Indeed there are some modern societies that are called Matriarchy, and they are usually defined as such because the women are the ones who inherit land and carry the family name, however this is not really my understanding but rather one I believe that is put forward by the Patriarch.

In reality most information we have, most history we have been told was recorded by men and almost always altered by the church. We have been living in a Patriarchy society for so long that a lot of the time we do not question what we have been told, taking it all as fact.

As I discussed before Matriarchy is not the opposite of Patriarchy. It is the middle ground, it is about equality, about bringing balance into play, nurturing both the masculine and feminine within ourselves. It is living in a way where we respect and honour the planet and all her inhabitants. It sounds like the perfect society in which to live, does it not?

What is your Ideal Societal Structure?

My ideal is something that we need to create anew.

For me Matriarchy holds no negative connotations, I have a very clear idea about what it was in the past, but that is not true for others, for them they see it as woman holding power, being in charge, ruling. It is something that has been placed there by the Patriarch, it is a label given, an idea, a seed planted and one that has taken roots and a hold.

This is not something to embrace, I do not wish to live in a society where I have to argue my beliefs, to me that is not productive. I want to live in a society that is created out of mutual understanding and respect. Where true balance, here in the present is brought into play. For too long we have been looking to the past for answers, for understanding, for guidance

I do not like labels, I believe it is ok to give a child a name, as that holds power, but to label people is to exhort control over them, to create limits.

Now is the time to look within, to create from within, to create anew.

When we really look within ourselves we connect with our inner power, with our connection to nature. We have no room for dominance or greed. We fully understand that our lives are intertwined with the earth, with one another. We strive to form communities that are inclusive, that are supportive and caring. We accept each other and our choices on how we choose to live our lives.

Balance is so important in allowing us to accept and move forward, the world we strive to create will be one that celebrates the amazing feminine and masculine qualities that we all hold within us. As men and women we need to create together, we need to ensure that in moving out of the Patriarch we do not move away from our masculine side. We definitely need to embrace the feminine more but balance is our key to greater health, happiness, and deeper understanding of our actions and reactions.

Finally my ideal societal structure would be one that also follows the three basic Ethnics of Permaculture:

Care of the Earth: This includes all living and non-living things — plants, animals, land, water and air.

Care of People: This promotes self-reliance and community responsibility.

Setting Limits and sharing the surplus: This means limiting consumption, and giving away surplus to achieve the aims of self-sufficiency, and Earth and people care.

I want to live in a world that honours and respects the earth, that understands that we belong to the earth and not the present belief that the earth belongs to us. To live in a world where we give back to our amazing planet instead of only taking, once again living in balance.

Maybe you can not put a label on what the best society would be, I think we might all agree the one we are in could be improved upon in many ways.
But just one method to society will always fail, we need parts of all the ism's and ist's, Capitalism communism Liberalist democrat republic loyalist every other ist ism or any name which can be given to a society, we need to find and take the best parts for all and use them wisely. (not letting one control them all)

I agree. Too many isms. Some good ideas in all of them. How goood would it be to tear down the world and start anew.

I am working on it, I have $150 of the 2.5M I need to begin.

How intriguing.... 😁😁😄😄😄

yeah we need to learn from our mistakes and create something new, moving forward all the time. Thanks @jan23com, balance is needed in all we do.

Very nice post.
I have been away from Steemit, but it´s good to be back and read a post like yours. I also belive that it´s time for a matriarchy society, but not just put women in charge so that they can do the same as man. I belive we are talking about the feminine energy, that nurture and aggregate, while the masculine energy cuts and spread. I think both energies are important for a human being, in different times of life. What happens is that we are without balance, so all we got is the masculine energy, while the feminine energy is hidden under labels and wrong ideias. So maybe we need a big boost of feminine energy so we can find this balance.
I liked a lot the Ethnics of Permaculture, I think they would be a great start point for this change.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Cheers!

thank you @fireguardian yes balance all the way, and permaculture for real good measure.

I have absolutely no idea other than having the "supreme" beings of all religions change the rules to three strikes (sins) your out. lol.

I agree, mama. Matriarchy, as we've uncovered it, is damn close. It's almost like we just need to change the name. I think we're doing really good work here.

thank you @solarsupermama, it takes us all coming together and recreating.

wow steemit is really helping in acquiring more knowledge. Now i understand more about matriarchy and i had love to be in such a society.love the picture too.they are deep and really apply to the context of your post.

HAD LOVE YOU PLEASE CHECK OUT MY NEW POST ON ONE OF MY MOST ADMIRED AFRICAN LEADER NELSON MANDELA

Yay for Permaculture! I think even if it is not called Permaculture and it is called something else, it is hard to disagree with these ethics. Somehow I think Permaculture and the matriarchy you described above could go well hand in hand.

thank you @sagecrub, yeah permaculture is really the way forward for everything x

really loved this @trucklife-family. found a lot of resonance in what you said. i loved the images you chose and found your message came across to me so gently it really warmed my heart.

We fully understand that our lives are intertwined with the earth, with one another.

i feel so similarly to you and love that you included the permaculture ethics in there. that is the core i choose too. i also don't have any negative associations with matriarchy and believe it's geared toward equality and taking care as well, which seems incredibly positive to me. basically, i would trust women to take care of one another and not focus on domination or control. haha.

i think in that statement of yours that i quoted above is the entire core of it here!

We fully understand that our lives are intertwined with the earth, with one another.

.... once we realize that as a species, we can live from that space and create a healthier world not bent on destruction, exploitation, domination/control, etc... but this quote speaks of honoring one another and our LIFE here... permaculture ethics really wrap it up well. great job <3

thank you @mountainjewel, can't wait to read everyone eles's and I imagine we would all be similar in our own unique ways xx

I really love your ideas Aishlinn and the three basic ethics you mentioned are just so so important to have.

Thank you @sharoonyasir, I have been so absent the last few days, really missed connecting with you, will be catching up, much love xx

I have missed you too! I keep disappearing on and off as well so I completely get your feelings. You know, somethings come up and then we get so caught up in on them that we forget about a certain aspect of our life.
