Earth Rangers Bonfire
Yesterday, the weather was favorable for the Earth Rangers to organize their first bonfire.
Prior to the bonfire, the Earth Rangers did community clean-up for the second time along the streets of their community.
This was followed by the sharing of the powdered detergents the Earth Rangers made a few weeks ago. The powdered detergent was shared so that the Earth Rangers can use it to clean their clothes as well as enjoy the detergent they made.
At 06:00PM, the Earth Rangers gathered around our working space, each with a chair and piece of wood for the bonfire.
Earth Rangers Nelvis and Anshly prepared the fire while the others took installed their chairs around the fire.
Over 30 young people and 10 parents gathered around the fire which was lit at 06:30PM.
This was followed by a word of prayer by Earth Ranger Esther and then self introductions that was accompanied with a creative gesture.
Then we had two art presentations by Earth Rangers Nelvis and Suzzy who presented their Environmental Paradise Art.
Our first cooperative game known as Fishers of Men followed the art presentations, then a drama presentation on Cholera.
The drama highlighted the causes, consequences and strategies to fight Cholera which is a dreaded disease that claims the lives of several Cameroonians every year.
This was followed by a safety and security presentation by @mr-greens and the parents who called on the Earth Rangers to be custodians of the community. Some security tips such as shout or whistles whenever there is trouble as well as always talk to the parents of the community whenever there is trouble discussed and adopted.
This was followed by our second cooperative game known as The King says
Then an Environmental Song by Earth Ranger Faith and a spiritual song by Earth Ranger Nelvis.
The time was 08:00PM when the last song finished paving way for the parents to share words of advice, encouragement, appreciation and evaluation of the day.
The words from the parents are what inspire us to keep doing what we do. It was an exceptionally great evening full of love, laughter and fun. We look forward to organizing another bonfire as recommended by the parents on the 24th.
